NEVER GIRL BOY ep

(split 45 w/ The Riff Randals)

Rant (March, 2001) The reason this 7" is called Never Girl Boy is because both bands do a song of the same name on their respective sides. Both of them do great sounding versions of that song. Let me start with the Riff Randals. Goodness gracious, I hope their lyrics are all a big joke. I've seen these ladies perform live and the majority of their songs are about penises. Anyone who is that preoccupied with male genitalia has some, probably has some, unresolved issues that need to be dealt with. Geez, never thought about it before but it just occurred to me why every time members of the Riff Randals are in attendance at a Secretions show, they always go up on stage and sing the Oscar Meyer Weiner song with them, ewwwww. I consider myself to be a desensitized individual who's not offended by much but I am offended by the Riff Randals. Congratulations girls, your gimmick is working, I'm shocked by your lyrics. Milhouse USA does a somewhat watered down version of the same thing the Riff Randals do. The bass player for the Riff Randals sings for Milhouse USA. Each band does three songs. Check this 7" out, if you can get passed (sic) the lyrics it's pretty good. (Sean O'connor)

MRR (#215, April 2001) A burst of Sacramento pride brings us the fabulous snotty Riff Randals who are hard and school your ass about your unsightly manners and unproductive gender stereotypes. They just wanna fuck! But, uh, that's not an invitation to write them with fantasies. The more "melodic" Milhouse USA recorded their side with a couple of rocks, hammers, and wires, or something. It sounds bad, which is too bad. I'd check out both of these bands if they see their way to leave the fucking state capitol. It's muggy, and the governor lives there, for fuck's sake.

Why Can't Everybody Be Like Us? LP

Rant (March, 2000) It's 8:38 am. I'm sleeping...the phone rings...it's Abe, "Have you reviewed the Milhouse tape yet?" "No not yet, when is the deadline?" I say in a half-dazed slur brushing the slepp from my eyes. "Today!" Abe says sounding stressed. So here I am, it's 8:45, I have a cup of coffee on my desk and the Milhouse tape in my deck. Ready...set...and go. Milhouse is a female fronted band that's not afraid to speak their mind. Whether it's about how much whity sucks, or about what they want to suck. With songs like "Fish Taco", and "KTWM", their thunderous sounds and energetically warbled lyrics combine for a perfect fit. Milhouse is mostly a harder band with an angry and sex driven edge. But they do have some catchy, stick in your head songs like "Anvil" and "I Want Head". The vocals are hard to hear on some of the tracks, and the guitar is overpowering at times. All in all the recording is tolerable, but not great. Milhouse is not a band that you can listen to all the time. But, if you had a hard day at work, or your girl friend or boyfriend broke up with you, and you need to vent and release some anger pick-up the milhouse tape, pop it in your player and enjoy. I give Milhouse 3 1/2 out of 5 rock stars. Electron has spoken. (Ronnie)

MRR (#203, April 2000) Milhouse is great. They have a theme song, they are fasy\t but not hardcore, the snotty girl vocals are singsongy and tough. Musically derivative of of classic punk rock bands, and a BLACK FLAG cover. (Erin Yanke)
